The Argentine Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated today against a group of Coptic Christians headed to a monastery in the province of Minya, Arab Republic of Egypt, which tragically claimed dozens of lives and left many injured.

Argentina conveys its condolences and expresses its support to the Egyptian Government and people, as well as to the victims' families, and wishes a full and speedy recovery of those injured.

Just as in previous attacks against the Coptic minority in Egypt, the Argentine Government once again vigorously condemns these heinous acts and calls on the international community to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism, within the framework of international law. Such acts of violence and fanaticism should not be allowed to undermine the right of societies to live in freedom and in peace.
