Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean

The Argentine Republic expresses its consternation over the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean countries, especially in Barbuda, Antigua and Barbuda, and conveys to the Caribbean governments and peoples its solidarity and willingness to cooperate in mitigating the consequences of the disaster. Argentina also conveys its condolences to the families of the deceased and its support for those injured and affected.

In this regard, in cooperation with the efforts undertaken by local authorities, the Argentine Government has offered its help through the White Helmets Commission to aid and bring relief to the peoples concerned, for which purpose it is keeping contact with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency. In addition, we inform that the Argentine Embassy in Jamaica, which has concurrent jurisdiction over Antigua and Barbuda, has maintained regular contact with local authorities so as to determine the country's needs in view of this emergency.
