The Argentine Republic expresses deep concern over the missile attack launched on Israeli positions in the Golan Heights region on 9 May and subsequent events. In this regard, the Argentine Government joins the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, in urging all parties to refrain from any action that may compound the situation, in order to prevent an escalation of disputes in a region weighed down by serious conflicts.

The Argentine Republic supports a political solution in Syria reached through dialogue and diplomacy, as well as respect for the law and the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
