Información para la Prensa N°: 130/17

The Argentine Republic once again strongly condemns the launch of an unidentified missile by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from a land-based platform in Sinpo, in the Province of South Hamgyong.

The launch of the missile, which exploded shortly afterwards, took place on 16 April in the morning.

This is a new act of hostility and provocation against the international community which overtly violates international obligations arising from United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1718 (2006), 1874 (2009), 2087 (2013), 2094 (2013), 2270 (2016), 2321 (2016) and 2345 (2017), which address the North Korean missile and nuclear programmes.

Argentina urges the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to promptly comply with these Resolutions and end these systematic hostile acts in the region that constitute a threat to international peace and security.
