Argentina condemns new missile launch by the People's Democratic Republic of Korea

Información para la Prensa N°: 232/17

The Argentine Republic once again strongly condemns the launch of multiple anti-ship cruise missiles on Thursday 8 June. The missiles were launched towards the Sea of Japan from an area near Wonsan, in the Province of Kangwon, and flew around 200 kilometres.

This is a new act of hostility and provocation against the international community which overtly violates international obligations arising from United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1718 (2006), 1874 (2009), 2087 (2013), 2094 (2013), 2270 (2016), 2321 (2016), 2345 (2017) and 2356 (2017), which address the North Korean missile and nuclear programmes.

Argentina once again urges the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to promptly comply with these Resolutions and end these systematic hostile acts in the region, which constitute a threat to international peace and security.
