The Argentine Government condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated today in the city of Qamishli, Syria, which has left 44 dead and hundreds injured.

The Argentine Government conveys its condolences and solidarity to the Syrian people and to the victims’ families.

Argentina reaffirms its conviction about the need to fight against terrorism, within the framework of international law, respect for human rights and international humanitarian law. It also reiterates its support for the efforts being made by the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, and by the international community, with a view to finding an immediate solution to the serious humanitarian crisis, and achieving a ceasefire and a political agreement to end the Syrian conflict.
