With profound consternation, the Argentine Government condemns the serious confrontations that took place in Juba, South Sudan, last weekend, leaving hundreds dead and injured.
The Argentine Republic expresses its grief and conveys its solidarity to the victims’ families and to the people of South Sudan, which has plunged into a spiral of internal violence.
The Argentine Government joins the international community in its urgent call upon the parties to the conflict to put an end to the escalation of violence, honour the commitments undertaken under the 2015 Peace Agreement, cooperate with any actions taken by the United Nations Assistance Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) and respect the civilian population, as established by international law and international humanitarian law.
