The Argentine Government congratulates the Government and the people of Colombia for the Final Peace Agreement entered into between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People's Army (FARC-EP), which has brought to an end over five decades of bitter conflict.

The Definitive Agreement is a historical landmark that will contribute to prosperity not only in Colombia but in the entire region, consolidating it as a peace zone.

Argentina welcomes the prompt submission of the Agreement to the Colombian Congress in order for it to call the plebiscite of 2 October, which will give the Colombian people an opportunity to express its opinion on the commencement of this new chapter in its history.

Argentina reiterates its commitment to collaborating with the Colombian Government for the building of peace, thus contributing to the prosperity and unity of the Colombian people.
