The Argentine Government expresses profound grief for the passing of former Israeli President Shimon Peres and extends its condolences to the people of Israel.
Shimon Peres was a visionary and a tireless worker for dialogue and peace who left an inspiring legacy to the whole world. He contributed to the signing of the historic Oslo Accords with Palestine and shared a Nobel Peace Prize with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Premier Yitzhak Rabin.
Shimon Peres was a great friend of Argentina and visited our country on several occasions. He was the Israeli President when he last came to Argentina, in mid-November 2009, within the framework of a state visit.
