On 19 July, the UN Security Council held an Open Debate on "Working Methods," with a view to improving the efficiency and transparency of its work.
The Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Foradori, participated in this debate and stated that Argentina looks forward to "having a more democratic and transparent Security Council that engages in permanent dialogue with all members of the Organization, in order to achieve as much legitimacy and representativeness as possible.
In addition, Ambassador Foradori stated that "what is at stake is the Council's decision-making culture and its effectiveness, which has a direct impact on its performance," while adding that there should be "more democratization, inclusion and accountability." Several countries participated in the Open Debate, including Mexico, Switzerland and Brazil.
