Following the growing number of terrorist attacks in Iraq in recent days, the Argentine Republic strongly condemns the bombings of 8 January in Sadr City and Baladiyat, which took at least 20 lives and left more than 50 civilians injured.

The Argentine Government conveys its condolences to the Government and people of Iraq, as well as to the relatives of the victims, and hopes for a speedy recovery of those injured.

Argentina reaffirms its intention to intensify the fight against terrorism and to ensure international peace and security, within a framework of respect for international law, human rights, and international humanitarian law.
