Today, Minister Susana Malcorra met with the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, and Slovakia, Miroslav Lajčák, in Munich, where the International Security Conference is being held with the participation of 40 Defence and Foreign Ministers of 40 countries. In addition, she spoke with Madeleine Albright, who was the first female U.S. Secretary of State.

The Argentine Foreign Minister highlighted her meeting with the newly-appointed U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson: “Our impression is very positive; we discussed matters on our common agenda, reconfirmed by [President] Obama’s visit last year. That agenda remains valid and we will continue working along those lines”. Minister Malcorra also confirmed that the meeting between Donald Trump and Mauricio Macri could take place between April and June, as permitted by the presidents’ schedules.

“It is likely that new issues will arise as we go over the agenda, as is only natural. To start with, what we have is a commitment to further pursue the originally planned agenda,” Malcorra said.

"We are trying to understand what the new (U.S.) administration’s policies will be. Its messages will be translated into political decisions and we want to see where that will go, hence the importance of the bilateral agreement ratifying our agenda,” Malcorra assured.

In Germany, the Foreign Minister also met with her British counterpart, Boris Johnson, with whom she discussed the Malvinas question: “It was the first issue we addressed and we both stated our positions very clearly. It is evident that we have a major difference as regards the Malvinas,” she stated.
