The Government of Argentina condemns the brutal repression against popular
demonstrators that filled the streets of the main cities of Egypt. These
demonstrations came to a sad end yesterday, with the result of numerous fatal
casualties and wounded victims. The Government of Argentina calls upon the
authorities of this country for a total and immediate cease of the spiral of
violence unleashed in recent days against unarmed citizens.

Argentina reiterates its profound conviction that a rapid political transition
towards the establishment of a constitutional government, the dialogue with
all social and political sectors with popular representation, and the
unconditional and unrestricted respect for human rights, are the foundations
upon which the Egyptian people can enjoy peace and democracy.
