Faurie met with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulraham Al Thani. They both underscored the close bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed to expand political and economic ties.
Faurie told his counterpart that Argentina wishes to increase and diversify its exports to Qatar and to promote Qatari investments in strategic areas. They both highlighted that Qatari businesspeople have expressed their intention to contact their Argentine counterparts in order to explore mutual trade opportunities in areas such as agri-industry, finance, communications, renewable energies and infrastructure. Faurie stated that the Argentine Foreign Ministry will facilitate and promote such contacts.
The Argentine Foreign Minister remarked that since Argentina is a global leader of the food market, it can contribute even more to food security, which is one of Qatar's highest priorities.
In addition, Faurie stated that Argentina follows with concern the tense situation between several Middle East countries and Qatar and hopes that through dialogue a solution that satisfies all parties can be promptly achieved.
