Information for the Press N°: 367/18

This morning, Foreign Minister Faurie opened the G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting being held in Mar del Plata, at which he underscored "Argentina's commitment as part of a broad global integration strategy."

"The world has never been as interdependent as it is today, and international cooperation is necessary more than ever to achieve an inclusive economy. In this context, it is important to increase production, trade, investment and job creation," Faurie stated in his opening speech, together with the Minister of Production and Labour, Dante Sica, and the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser.

At the meeting, aimed at providing a forum for discussion on the present and future of trade and investment, Faurie stated -in the presence of over 35 heads of delegation- that "this is just the right time to open a forum for honest dialogue," as "the dynamics of the multilateral trading system are changing" and the system needs "to be revitalized".

"The agenda pursued by the Argentine G20 Presidency seeks to embrace those priorities, in areas such as participation in agri-food value chains, the promotion of which can contribute to sustainable development in the future," the Foreign Minister stated, underscoring the importance of "taking advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies, so that this technological transformation benefits people and we are better prepared for the future of work."
