Today, by a large majority, INTERPOL's General Assembly elected General Commissioner Néstor Roncaglia, Police Chief of the Argentine Federal Police, as the new Vice President of the Executive Committee for the Americas for the 2019-2022 term.

Officially created in 1923, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) is the world’s largest international police organization, with 194 member countries. INTERPOL is currently the main channel for collaboration between police forces around the world and remains at the forefront of criminal investigation and the development of initiatives to improve criminal law cooperation.

During his address to the General Assembly, General Commissioner Néstor Roncaglia stated that INTERPOL is the ideal tool to fight transnational crime and guarantee international security, which are essential requirements for the development of all countries.

The decision of the General Assembly is an international recognition of Argentina's commitment the fight against drug trafficking and the promotion of international cooperation against organized crime.

General Commissioner Roncaglia is also a lawyer and after graduating from the Officers' School he specialized in the fight against drug trafficking and complex crimes. His most important investigations include the "Stadium 99" Operation in 2008, with one of the largest drug seizures in Argentina.

At the multilateral level, Roncaglia was elected as Delegate for the Americas by INTERPOL's General Assembly in 2016.
