Today in New York, Vice President Gabriela Michetti and Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met with the Chief of UNICEF's Disability Unit in office since 2011, Rosangela Berman-Bieler, from Brazil, who has been promoting and advocating for disabled people's rights for over 35 years.
The Vice President underscored that Argentina recognizes that disability is a cross-cutting issue and has therefore adopted policies on that matter in the fields of education, health, sports, and culture, among others.
In this regard, Argentina currently has a set of regulatory instruments in force that guarantee a significant part of disabled people's rights. Michetti also explained that Argentina has institutions specialized in monitoring and following up on public policies, such as the recently established Argentine Agency for Disabled People and the newly implemented National Plan on Disability.

In addition, the Vice President and the Foreign Minister then met with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Guy Rider, from the United Kingdom, who was elected in May 2012 and re-elected in November 2016. They addressed the 4th Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labour, to be held in Buenos Aires on 14-16 November. The Argentine Vice President and Foreign Minister expressed their gratitude for the technical and economic support provided by the ILO, especially through the Country Office for Argentina.
This event is in line with the efforts undertaken nationally and regionally on this matter and reaffirms Argentina's strong commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Conference will be attended by representatives of governments, workers and employers. 1500 delegates from all over the world are expected to participate in the Conference to address issues such as the elimination of forced labour, the implementation of active inclusion policies and the creation of quality employment for the youth.
Furthermore, Michetti and Faurie expressed to Rider that Argentina assigns great importance to the issue of employment within the G-20 framework. As stated by President Macri on the occasion of the Hamburg Summit, the issue of employment will be at the core of the agenda under the Argentine G-20 Presidency in 2018. Argentina believes that there is a close relationship between education and major labour market changes arising from technological progress and the automation of productive processes.

Today in New York, Vice President Gabriela Michetti and Foreign Minister Faurie met with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, with whom they addressed Argentina's commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In this regard, Michetti and Faurie reiterated Argentina's support for the reforms undertaken by her at the UN and its willingness to continue working for multilateral consensus, especially in the context of the three pillars of the UN: peace and security, human rights and sustainable development.
