The Argentine Foreign Ministry learnt about the military exercises to be conducted by the British Government in the Malvinas Islands on 15-29 October 2018, which will include missile launches.
In view of this and in keeping with the obligations and responsibilities of Argentina in terms of navigation security in the Southwest Atlantic, the Argentine Naval Hydrographic Service will broadcast a notice to report on the planned military exercises.
The Argentine Republic condemns the performance of these exercises in Argentine territory unlawfully occupied by the United Kingdom, which are in disregard of the resolutions adopted by the United Nations and other international organizations that call on both parties to resume negotiations in order to find a peaceful and definitive resolution to the sovereignty dispute, as well as to refrain from taking unilateral action in the territories and maritime areas in dispute.
The Foreign Ministry lodged a formal protest with the British Embassy to Argentina over the planned military exercises and will bring the situation to the attention of the UN Secretary General and the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.
