The White Helmets Commission of the Argentine Foreign Ministry was chosen to be part of the Advisory Group for implementing the Regional Strategy for Disaster Risk Management in the Agriculture Sector and Food and Nutrition Security in Latin America and the Caribbean (2018 - 2030).

This appointment will entail cooperating and providing advice for the development of disaster risk reduction mechanisms, plans and programmes aimed at building community resilience for the agricultural sector, thus ensuring the reduction of vulnerabilities, poverty and hunger in the region.

The appointment was made in the context of the Meeting for Developing an Operational Mechanism for implementing the Strategy, which was held in Antigua, Guatemala, on 25-26 April, organized by the FAO, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), the Government of Guatemala and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Upon appointing the White Helmets to the Advisory Group, the countries represented at the meeting and the international, regional and sub-regional bodies underscored the work of the Argentine initiative towards the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 - 2030 and of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
